M4 Sciences LLC is the sole provider of "Modulated Assisted Machining (MAM)" technology, which provides breakthrough improvements for machining processes. The TriboMAM drilling system has enabled more than 100 companies in 15 countries drill some of the most difficult materials up to 5 times faster while doubling tool life through TriboMAM's ability to control chip formation, improve cutting fluid effectiveness, remove peck cycles, and increase process stability and feed rates. James Mann, CEO
James has held several industry leadership roles in the aerospace, automotive, and contract manufacturing sectors. His background includes engineering and operations management in precision machining, solid rocket motor design, manufacturing and assembly, aircraft assembly and maintenance, fuel systems manufacturing and assembly, and diesel engine manufacturing.
James has authored more than 30 journal and trade publications and co-authored six issued patents related to machining and materials processing technology. He pioneered M4 Sciences’ first TriboMAM drilling system for CNC machines, enabling the implementation of the technology. He is a certified Six-Sigma Black Belt in quality management, and recipient of a number of achievement and presentation awards, including 21st Annual Burton D. Morgan Business Plan competition (2007) and the R&D 100 Award (2010) for technology development of the TriboMAM system. In 2011, he was recognized by the Tibbetts award from the US Small Business Administration for excellence in technology development and commercialization in the National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR programs.

Brian Gootee, COO & Secretary
Before establishing M4 Sciences, Brian’s background included extensive experience in personnel and business management, marketing and product development, purchasing, logistics and computer integrated systems. Brian is President and owner of Gray Goat Sports, Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, a commercial/retail business in cyclery and fitness equipment. He has more than fifteen years experience in sales management and business operations, including the following employments: Service Director, Gilles Fitness, for state of Indiana (3/01-8/04); Computer Support Administrator, Gilles Fitness, Indianapolis, Indiana (5/98-8/04); Operations Manager/ Buyer, Gilles Fitness, Indianapolis, Indiana (5/98-3/01); and General Manager; The Cyclery, St. Louis, Missouri (5/92-5/98).
Brian co-founded M4 Sciences and is responsible for strategic operations, and information technology. He is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis (BA in Business, 2003) and has been an invited lecturer for various business courses at U of I.
Phil Fassnacht, Vice President Sales & Marketing
Phil joined M4 Sciences in 2014 to help guide the sales and marketing strategy and accelerate global business growth. Most recently Mr. Fassnacht served as the Marketing Director of Hurco Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: HURC) where he launched a worldwide rebranding, and in an earlier role as Sales Director in which he led the North American division to record sales in back to back years. Mr. Fassnacht’s professional background is broad based encompassing sales and marketing, general management, and product design. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business.
